Face Mask Policy
Increasing and rapidly rising cases of COVID-19 in the community means we are re-implementing the requirement for all staff, visitors and patients to wear masks.
We are continuously monitoring the COVID-19 situation in the communities and hospitals. We are currently seeing increased cases and these are rising quickly. We are therefore re-implementing the requirement for all patients, visitors, relatives and staff to wear masks from July 4th 2022.
If a member of our staff requests that you wear a mask, please respond with respect. This measure has been introduced to protect vulnerable patients and further limit the spread of COVID-19.
Zero Tolerance to Violence, Abuse and Racism
As a practice we are very aware that visiting the GP can, at times, be stressful and concerning for patients. Delays in obtaining appointments and delays in surgery running times, due to unforeseen emergency appointments, can also add to these concerns.
We always strive to meet patient expectation and deliver the highest standards of healthcare. For the vast majority of our patients, we achieve this, despite the finite resources and steadily increasing demand for services that exists today within the NHS.
Our staff come to work to care for others, and it is important for all members of the public and our staff to be treated with respect.
In line with the rest of the NHS and to ensure that this is fully observed we have instigated a Dignity at Work and Zero Tolerance Policy, whereby aggressive, racist or violent behaviour towards our staff will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Any visitor who expresses any form of verbal abuse or racial discrimination against, or harassment of, any members of the staff or another visitor of the practice, will be required to leave the practice premises forthwith.
If the visitor is a patient, an initial warning letter will be sent on the first occasion of any verbally abusive, racist or discriminatory behaviour from them. This letter will include an offer of a meeting with the patient to discuss the issue. Any subsequent repeat of the behaviour by the patient will lead to removal of the patient from the Practice list. The police will be called in all cases of violence.
The Practice feels sure our patients will understand that proper behaviour is absolutely necessary for our staff and patients and that non observance will not be accepted.
Abuse is not in a day’s work
We have the right to refuse treatment and take further action against anyone who threatens the safety of our staff and our patients.
Changes to the Appointment Booking System
We appreciate the appointment booking system has not been ideal, especially with the unprecedented demand that GP practices have been experiencing. We are aware of our patient demographics and try to consider patients of all ages, giving fair access to all.
We have been reviewing our appointment system since the easing of Covid restrictions and will be trialling a new appointment booking system from the 9th May 2022.
We will be moving from all bookable on the day appointments for GP’s to 7 days bookable in advance. Patients will be able to choose, at the time of booking, whether they would like the appointment to via telephone or face to face. Appointments are bookable by calling the practice at 8am or appointments will be bookable online for patients that prefer this method. Online bookable appointments are released daily at 6pm.

Urgent Treatment Centre
Thinking of attending the emergency department at QA Hospital or the Urgent Treatment Centre at St Mary’s Community Health Campus for an urgent, but non-emergency, need?
Please remember that there is an urgent treatment centre (UTC) near you at Gosport War Memorial Hospital/Petersfield Community Hospital where you may be seen much faster.
Contact 111 online (111 Online Website ), or phone 111 to be directed to the most appropriate place for your need – and to get an allocated appointment slot so you can be seen at the right place, first time by the most appropriate healthcare professional.
The UTC does accept walk-in patients for people unable to use 111, but you may need to wait longer or may be directed to another care facility if clinically appropriate.
Through winter please help the NHS to ensure our emergency department is kept free for those patients in need of emergency or life-saving care.

Please help the receptionist by giving them as much information as possible and answer any questions they may have. This will help us prioritise calls and have the right Clinician call you back.
