RSV Vaccine
Posted or Updated on 9 Aug 2024
Starting from 1st September 2024, individuals who turn 75, as well as those aged 75 to 79, plus women who are at least 28 weeks pregnant are eligible for a free respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine.
RSV is an infectious disease affecting the airways and lungs, often presenting symptoms similar to a cold, including:
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Sneezing
- Runny or blocked nose
In some cases, RSV can cause wheezing, shortness of breath, pneumonia, and other serious conditions. While most infections resolve on their own, RSV can be particularly severe in individuals with heart or lung disease or weakened immune systems. Each year, thousands of older adults require hospitalisation due to RSV.
Our RSV vaccination clinic is on Saturday 7th September from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
To book an appointment, please call or visit our practice at your earliest convenience. If you are unable to attend this clinic, please contact us in mid-October for additional clinic dates.
